Quote

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let our bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

    • 🙂 …the meaning of our existence… but why did He start this wonderful game? My Buddhist mind tells me that if He is omniscient and permanent, he could not change his mind…. from “no creation” to “creation”… Everything that changes is impermanent and subject to decay… so He would be impermanent?! Subject to death? Either there was ever creation or there could never be creation. This is most probably one of the few mysteries left to explore in eternity.
But anyhow, there is no other way than to surrender to Him… or It… or Her…
The essence is the same… 🙂

      • A lot to ponder…….but I feel this way.It is not very academic and analytical but then for me He is matter of faith He is there cause I want to believe Him to be there. This belief makes life easier to me and it provides me a strength as well.
So ,I feel all the realities outside Him are into being due to Him.He is the creator so we have a part of Him and ultimate aim or cycle is to be assimilated in Him.But He is not fully the creation. He also stands outside His creation.
Now why He started ‘this wonderful game’? Well ,that perhaps He knows better.May be wanted to manifest Himself or say spread the energy.
‘changes are impermanent’……..I feel it’s not like this . in changed form we might not identify with the earlier form but it carries the thread. The phase can be called impermanent but the process is in continuation.
Be it cycle of life and death or from bud to fruit phase changes, face changes, form changes but the present always carries the past and future in it.
He is always there…….and I feel so will be the
        universe.
enjoyed interacting…somehow while discussing things get sorted out inside you.
        Thanks

        • Thanks a lot Namita! I think this question about the motives of creation have been sought in vain by many men and philosophers and may never be answered because of man’s limited reasoning abilities (and indeed, He knows it better 🙂 ). All the prophets, who most probably knew, remained silent when asked to unveil those ultimate secrets. And they surely had their reasons to do so. “He who knows, tells it not; he who tells, knows it not.” (Lao-tzu)
